Benefits of Membership

Becoming a member of the IPI brings many benefits to qualified planners in Ireland. The IPI regularly communicates the views of the profession on current planning issues both nationally through the media, with Government and internationally through its membership of the European Council of Spatial Planners. It provides opportunities for Continuing Professional Development (CPD), updating and discussion on key issues at seminars held across the country and at the annual National Planning Conference; as well as a number of social events both nationally and at branch level. The Institute maintains and enforces a code of professional conduct amongst its members and plays a role in recognising or accrediting planning education available in Ireland. The Institute also provides information updates, and gives a voice to the members though various public statements and publications on important issues or policy documents. Corporate members of the Institute are entitled to use the initials MIPI and Fellows of the Institute are entitled to use the initials FIPI.

All applications are sent to the membership committee for consideration and recommendation to Council. The final decision regarding membership lies with the Council.
