Submission on Land Use and Transport Authority
Thursday, June 28, 2001
The Institute strongly welcomes the proposed establishment of a Land Use and Transport Authority for the Greater Dublin Area. It is considered essential that land use and transportation be planned and implemented together, in an integrated fashion.
The Institute broadly supports the proposed governance model, based on the Dublin Docklands Development Authority, as this has proven to be an effective and efficient model that has worked well in practice.
The following recommendations are submitted by the Institute in order to deal with the current deficiencies in relation to land use planning coordination in the Greater Dublin Area, and to ensure that the new Authority will be able to ensure full implementation of the Strategic Planning Guidelines and any future integrated land use and transportation strategy prepared by it.
