Selection of Candidates for Appointment as Members of the Aquaculture Licences Appeals Board under the Fisheries (Amendment) Act, 1997

Dear Member,

We wish to bring your attention a notification that the Irish Planning Institute (IPI) has recently received from the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food advising that they are seeking a nomination from the IPI in relation to the appointment of members to the Aquaculture Licences Appeals Board.

SUMMARY OF NOTIFICATION

A summary of the notification is set out below. Full details of the notification as issued to the IPI has been placed on the Irish Planning Institute website http://www.irishplanninginstitute.ie.

The notification advises that the IPI is a prescribed organisation for the purposes of paragraph (a) of section 23(3) of the Fisheries (Amendment) Act 1997 and accordingly the Department is inviting the IPI to select at least two candidates for appointment by the Minister as members of the Aquaculture Licences Appeals Board.

The Minister has invited the IPI to:

• select at least two candidates for consideration appointment by the Minister as members of the Aquaculture Licences Appeals Board,

• inform the Minister by Friday 3rd December 2010 of the name of the candidates selected and of the reasons why, in the opinion of the organisation, he/she would be suitable for appointment, and

• include a curriculum vitae in respect of the candidate, together with their written consent to their selection.

APPLICATION PROCEDURES

Having regard to the invitation from the Minister to the Institute, the IPI is now inviting members who wish to be considered for selection by the IPI to submit the necessary information to the Institute so that the IPI can inform the Minister in accordance with his request.

In view of the timescale advised by the Minister, the IPI is advising that applications should be submitted to the IPI no later than 5pm on Tuesday 30th November 2010 so that sufficient time can be given for the consideration of applications made to the IPI.
Applications should be made in writing only and not by email to The Secretary, Irish Planning Institute, 3rd Floor The Courtyard, 25 Great Strand Street, Dublin 1.
The IPI cannot take responsibility for applications sent by applicants but not received by the IPI, therefore prospective candidates may wish to consider submitting applications by registered post to ensure delivery.

In order to select a candidate the IPI require the following documentation to be submitted:

Curriculum Vitae
A letter setting out the reasons why you would be suitable for the appointment
The letter should provide written consent to your selection by the IPI

Prospective Applicants should be aware of the following:

All applications will be treated as strictly confidential.
Receipt of applications will be acknowledged by email (an email address should be provided to the IPI).
Applications received by the IPI outside the closing date (5pm Tuesday 30th November 2010) or by email will not be considered.
The IPI do not propose to hold interviews/meetings with prospective candidates and the assessment will be based on documentation submitted.
The IPI reserve the right not to select a candidate.
Applicants will be informed after 3rd December 2010 whether or not their name has been advised to the Minister.
