The Irish Planning Institute will hold its 34th National Conference on 26TH & 27TH April 2012 in the Kilkenny Ormonde Hotel, Kilkenny.  This year’s conference is entitled PLANNING TO LEAD THE WAY:  EMBRACING CHALLENGES & CREATING OPPORTUNITIES

 

The planning profession is faced with new challenges and opportunities.  Planners are best placed to take up the mantle on many of the problems facing Ireland today.  Planners and the planning profession need to take the lead in problem solving; use their unique skills to manage different interest groups in order to achieve a better, more sustainable future; bring people and ideas together and drive the profession into a position of leadership.  This conference will examine the existing and future context of planning in Ireland and investigate new challenges and emerging opportunities for planners and the planning profession.  Particular topics will include ‘unfinished developments’ ‘health and planning’ ‘new perspectives on planning’, ‘planning and new technology’ and ‘planning and flooding’.  Confirmed speakers and discussion panelists include:
