REGULATION– What approach will the CER take?

he CER (Commission for Energy Regulation) is expected to act as water regulator for the new water authority, ‘Irish Water’, which will be established once the public consultation on the reform of the water sector concludes. Just how the CER will approach this new public utility and what the implications for local authorities will be once it begins operating will be discussed by Cathy Mannion, Director, Electricity Networks and Electricity & Gas Retail Markets at CER at the 5th National Water Services Conference 2012

 

This session will examine:

  • The introduction of Irish Water will introduce the need for a water regulator, which will be the CER. What are the implications of this and what will it involve?
  • How will the CER approach the issue of regulation and what impact will it have on the industry?
